The upcoming weekends…

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

This weekend I’m finally doing something I’ve been waiting for since March 2011 for! I’m going Wedding Dress Browsing!

My sister (who is my Maid of Honour), my best friend (who is my bridesmaid), my mom (who is awesome) and a good friend (who never got to dress shop for her own wedding) are all coming along to assist!

The shop we’re going to is by appointment only, and we’ve booked the package which includes a bottle of of champagne, some cheese, crackers and 5 dresses to try on, and afterwards we’re having a braai at my place to continue on the festivities. The guys are going to hang out at our place while we go off and do the dress thing.

Its the first real weddingy thing I’ve done thus far, except view some venues. Oh, speaking of venues, we’ve booked ours! We chose a lovely winery which is so picturesque and perfect! We also booked our honeymoon suite which is 4 star accomodation and includes a Honeymoon turndown service with champagne, chocolates, cheese, and biscuits as well as breakfast the next morning as well as a complimentary wine tasting and cellar tour! So much awesomeness!

I’ve had a bit of trouble with my rats recently, Iso has a growth/lump on the side of her face. So I took her to the vet, got a week’s dose of Baytril and Prednisone and went home. The meds helped a little but she’s still got the lump, so I took her in the following Saturday and then again on Monday for a biopsy.

She came home with stitches on her cheek, poor thing, and I’ll get the biopsy results hopefully by Friday. If its a tumour, at least I’ll know. Anyway, so yesterday morning I had them out on the bed and next thing I look, there’s Macro grooming out all Iso’s stitches! GRR! So now the wound is open, bar one stitch, so I took her through to the lounge to glue it shut with superglue! (the vet does this all the time) It worked and I then decided to keep them separate until the wound is healed, which I should have done in the first place, but didnt because I felt bad that they were both alone in their respective cages.

Ok so next weekend is also a first for me! My first photoshoot! I won an engagement photoshoot from Hearts in a Shutter and we’ve booked for the following weekend! As you know, I’m normally always the one behind the camera, so this is rather daunting for me. I have no idea what to wear, but I’m sure I’ll figure something out (I’d buy something new but the vet bill set me back R800 this month and still R371 to go!). We chose a nice earthy theme and picked a forest to do the shoot in, so I’m looking very forward to it, in amongst the nerves haha.

And then the following weekend after that one, we’re meeting with our wedding photographer to sign on the dotted line! She is an amazing photographer and I’m so lucky to be able to secure her for our wedding! I always knew the photography was going to be the toughest decision for me because I’m a photographer, but she made it so simple!

And that, my dear readers, are my next few weeks in a nutshell….

New things & quick update

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Just a quick post to let you know I’ve added a few things onto my blog. Firstly, I’ve added a subscriptions block on the side bar. Please try it out and let me know if it works for you so I now I set it up correctly. I’m not 100% sure how to use Feedburner, but hopefully someone can explain it to me (please?). *encouraging smile*

Secondly, I added a Blog Post Calendar, which really is just a different way of seeing which days I’ve made posts. Probably wont mean much to anyone, but its there nontheless. *nonchalant smile*

Thirdly, I updated my Rats page. I’ll be filling it out some more with past rats and more pics of my current girls as the weeks go by, but for now, thats it. *proud smile*

Fourthly, I’ve added an option for email notifications on follow up comments. So please guys, dont be shy with commenting – even if we’ve never met! I’ve been reading that 90% of blog readers are lurkers, and another 5% respond to questions. I dont really want to have to pose a specific question at the end of each post, but if you could leave me a little something to let me know you’re out there, that would be nice. So in case it was unclear in past posts, I do encourage comments *big smile*

And lastly, the poll is still open and only myself and one other have voted. I’m saddened to see someone thinks its too much work, because it really is all about bettering and empowering yourself. But I do understand some people are able to do that without a list. Still, it would be nice if someone else I know could do a list…its always fun to keep track of friends’ progresses through things like that and work together, thats what blog-friends are for, right? Oh well, I’ll just keep hoping someone else I know does a 101 in 1001 list sometime soon…*hopeful smile*

Thats all for now! Dont forget, help me out with Feedburner info and vote in the poll! Thanks!!

Fire (exclamation mark, exclamation mark)

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

So, since everyone is blogging about it (here and here), I thought I might as well too, moreso for my readers who dont reside in Cape Town.

Cape Town has been having some frightening fires lately, some in Paarl , Somerset West, Jonkershoek, and now Rhodes Memorial area to name a few. Arson is suspected, but nothing concrete has been determined.

The Rhodes Memorial fire started yesterday and already people were evacuated from their houses late last night. Two people were injured whilst sleeping in the bushes (why? I do not know!) in Vredehoek and were taken to hospital.

Its heartbreaking to see Cape Town in flames, and somewhat unsettling to think it may be arson. Maybe something to do with the vote coming up next month? Who knows. Its just so sad…think of all the wildlife and all the people scared to lose all their belongings….sigh.

Unfortunately, I havent captured any photos of this event, but there are more than enough in the links provided above to give you an idea of how it all looks. Due to a cloudy day, I cant even see any smoke from my place, despite being a mere 10-15 min away. Come to think of it, I cant even smell any smoke. Maybe they have it under control? Here’s hoping!

PS: Title of my post derived from a show called The IT Crowd…if you’ve never seen it, watch it! Its flippen funny!

A change is as good as a holiday

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

So thanks to everyone who’s followed me from Blogger to Wordpress, your support means a lot!  There are many different things in WP that Blogger didnt have, and some things Blogger had that I miss in WP.

The main thing I miss is my Following option. In blogger, when I logged into my dashboard, there was a list of blogs I was following. I’d enter in a feed and it’d show up in order of latest update like so:

Now, with WP, I dont have that anymore :( And I’m sad. But I’m getting used to WP, so not all is lost…

However, if anyone knows of a “following” tool for WP….please tell me! I miss my easy-to-find updates and I read a lot of blogs! Help!
