Ahh, Time, you wiley minx you!

Ever have the feeling life is running away with you? I kind of feel like that every now and then. Ok, more often than I’d like to admit.

There are so many things I’d like to do, and yet I want to also do nothing….does that even make sense?

I’d love to do some stuff around my apartment but when actually faced with doing it, I suddenly catch a bout of the Lazies. Silly, isnt it.

I did manage, however, to tidy up my bookshelf, and the best part is, its stayed tidy for almost three weeks now! Yes, I can hear that derisive snort from some of you, but depsite the Virgo inside me, I’m a messy person at heart. Combined with the Lazies, thats a deadly combination for any apartment. Anyway, so I hauled everything out the bookshelf, threw away some rubbish, piled some stuff in a bag which I will be donating to our local animal shelter to sell, and then reorganised the books neatly on the shelves.

Its amazing the difference it makes, when I’m walking in and out of the room I cant help but look over and notice how neat and tidy it looks. Cue the warm fuzzies. Although, I do wish I had taken a Before photo. I did take an After photo with my phone though!

Voila! (Please excuse the blegh whitebalance…:*))

I still want to reorganise the linen cupboard, finish sealing the wooden slats of our braai shelves, and sort out my computer desk! I’m spending less and less time here because, well, it just annoys me to see all the crap I have sitting around. And I want to put up some more of my photography around the house, as well as find and photograph something awesome for our lounge wall canvases I want to print.

So much to do, so little time to do it in….

Quick Snippet

Just to let you know I’m still alive.

I got my engagement ring back today after it was passed back to the designer to finish, and now its all polished up and shiny!

Work is going ok and I just got my perminant contract with title of Senior Sale Consultant, so yay me!

I really should get to taking more photos of my girls. Before I know it, they’re all grown up and no longer babies anymore, and its sad not to be able to look back on photos of them as babies.

And of course, I still really really want a Kindle. Sigh.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone saw it in safely!

We had a party at our place, which despite the fact hosting large parties make me nervous for the well-being of my stuff, the party went off well and we braai’d, drank, played guitar, and smoked some hubbly until midnight, where we sent around shots of White Chocolate Tequila as a surprise for our guests and then we popped some poppers and listened to the fireworks in the distance over Auld Lang Syne playing in our lounge.

I’m also happy to report that myself, the bf and my best friend and her bf went to visit The Diamond Works (just for fun cos its free!), where we were treated to a glass of bubbly while we took the tour where we could watch diamonds being cut and set, as well as learn interesting facts about the process of diamond mining and polishing.

We took a little time afterwards to look at the loose diamonds in preparation for our visit to the Wizard at the end of next week, and chatted to the sales ladies (who were awesome) about colours, cut and clarity. I even got to see my first flawed diamond (you can see little black specs in the diamond facets).

To tide me over, cos of course I’m really excited about the Wizard, I’m drowning myself in a few wedding forums, reading up on disaster proposals, terrible MILs (mother-in-laws), seeing photos of each girl’s bling, and other such girly wedding stuff.

So, to 2011, may it be My Year!

Long time no post

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

I havent posted in while, as some of my readers might have noticed (that is, if you havent left for greener blogs yet!). I’m not too sure why but I havent felt like blogging for some time now. I think I blogged about this a little while ago. I think maybe I put too much thought into my blogging, so from now on, my posts will probably be shorter and more concise. Actually, I blabber a lot, so I doubt it.

My latest news is that I resigned from my position at ASUS. The logistics of the position just didnt fit in with me. I wasnt too fond of working alone, and I think they need someone with a more business-orientated mind, rather than a hands on person like I am.

They were surprised when I resigned, but they were understanding. I felt bad because I was supposed to fly up to JHB this coming Tues, and plane tickets had already been booked, but I felt I needed to give them the option if they wanted me to come to JHB knowing I will be resigning afterwards or not. They chose for me not to come through, which I was relieved about (news follows about Wormy). I didnt want to go to JHB, do all this planning and strategising only to come back to CT and resign. That would’ve wasted everyone’s time. I do feel a lot lighter, though, as this job had started affecting other areas of my life. Anyway, now they’re on the lookout for someone new for Cape Town which I’ll be helping them with as much as I can until my last day on the 30th.

Gonna miss the bf who is going to JHB for rAge this year again :(

Some more news (and why I am relieved about not going to JHB) is about Wormy. Edit: after writing the Wormy-story, I felt it needed its own post, so click here for that post.

LOL it appears I was the only voter this week. Ah well, the next poll is about your Christmas shopping…please take a peek and vote.

Life has been so hectic lately, my new job draws near as the New Year approaches…and my poor Orlith has been so very sick with Head Tilt, but by the grace of God has pulled through! It’s been a very stressful festive season for me as I’ve been nursing her back to health with Baytril for the infection and Prednisone for the swelling of her one eye (from the infection underneath it). She also stopped eating for a while, so it was mashed potatoes, pronutro and rice for dinner and breakfast: all soft things to help keep her nourished.

On top of that, I went away for a much needed weekend (pics later) and V kept my babies for me while I was away. When I went to collect them, on the way home Orly suffered from heat stroke and after a frantic drive at 100km all the way (please dont let me have any speeding fines!) and a frantic phonecall, the bf had a bowl of tepid water at the ready when I got home. After an hour or two of keeping her in water, syringing Energade into her mouth for rehydration, she finally recovered but the head tilt was so pronounced and she couldnt even keep herself upright and kept falling over. It was so scary to watch and I felt so helpless, all I could do was cry and pray that she’d recover.

There are also two litters I’ve put myself down for next year, the mom is a wheaten burmese and the dad is a black eyed cream. They’ll be ready for adoption at the end of Jan. The next litter is due at the end of Dec, and are Husky rats, like my Ramoth was. I’m still indecisive about this litter, as I’m not sure if I’m ready for another Husky just yet, but I’ll see how I feel next year.

Christmas is almost here and I still have much to do. A few gifts left to buy, and then everything needs wrapping! I dont know what happened this year, but normally by now I’m done with gift buying and wrapping. Hell, usually I’m done by Dec 5th! Ah well, hopefully all will be done in time and I will destress soon.

And finally, my car repairs have been approved by the offender’s insurance, and my Bluebetty will be getting repaired soon. Yay! I was in another minor car accident the other day when someone drove into the back of me in bumper-to-bumper traffic. My bumper is dented and I had a bit of whiplash but I honestly have no time or energy to claim on their insurance. The guy was very nice about it though, and his car needs more work than mine, which he said he was happy about since it was his fault.

And that’s about it. Hopefully I’ll make another post before or on Christmas Day, but if I dont, please have a wonderful and safe Christmas!!
